Culture can be seen as the soil in which an organization or society grows. Just like rich, healthy soil nurtures seeds into strong, thriving plants, a healthy culture nurtures the people within it—connecting them, supporting their growth, and enabling them to flourish. It is the environment that provides the values, norms, and energy necessary for individuals (the seeds) to collaborate and contribute effectively. The healthier the soil (culture), the stronger and more productive the seeds (workers) can become, resulting in vibrant plants (products, services, or outcomes). In essence, culture is the foundation that determines the overall health and success of a collective.

The soil of an organization is composed of its core values, which act as the essential compounds that determine its richness and vitality. These values—such as credibility, transparency and resiliency —serve as the nutrients that feed the environment where individuals and teams operate. Each value contributes uniquely, like minerals in the soil, fostering trust, alignment, and shared purpose among the people within the organization.
